Well so far it has been an adventure here, because we were the first group of ´gringos´ there was some stuff that wasn't up to the American standard, namely missing toilets, broken doors, and my personal favorite the black water that some sisters had in their houses. That's right sisters get houses here and the Elders get the dorms. The campus here is about 90 acres and is beautiful. Especially compared to the surrounding mayhem of Mexico city. So this week we got split up into companionships and districts. I love my district not only because I can crush them all at pig, with my awesome basketball skills, but also because when you are serving the Lord together you learn to love each other.
I miss everyone, just not enough to come home because I love it here SOOO much. This is like a home already. Mimi, I want you to know that I am eating a healthy balanced diet here and am taking my vitamins every day. I will also have you know that I have made a personal goal and commitment to eat everything on my plate (something a lot of picky missionaries could learn) which means if I take it and I end up not liking it too bad. Another thing is the most liked dish among the missionaries here is cold cereal which they have every meal. I have done my best to stay away from it and have only had two bowls of it (the second one which was more warm than cold, which could be the reason I haven't had it since).
We are cramming so much into our brains, not just about spanish, but about how to be good missionaries, about how we have to learn the lessons, but we aren't here to teach lessons, we are here to teach people. Also in a devotional I love something Elder Ballard said, he said that to be the amazing missionaries we here about we have to draw close to Christ and to REALLY understand the atonement of Jesus Christ. My district leader here is probably the coolest guy, Elder Mashel and me just mesh I wish we could be companions, but the Lord has other plans, he obviously knows that there is something which I need to learn from Elder Anderson, which I am beginning to see, you see he doesn't do much unless I ask/tell him to do it like work on his spanish or study his topic for the lesson, but I am learning how to be a leader and you know what, I LOVE IT!!
The post office here isn't fully set up so I can receive mail, but for the time being I cannot send any mail so it might be best for everyone just to send letters or other such goodies down to Chile. Dad, mom tells me you miss me, well every time you find yourself just missing me too much just imagine one of my funny comments, or snide remarks. I love you pops.
My spanish as far as conversing with the Hispanic missionaries here, I am among the top ranks thanks to the Lord directing me to go to Nicaragua in high school. Another thing about the food here is that they try to have American food, but in really weird ways. Its really cool, like the fruit salad they put strawberry whoppers in it... hmmm, how long has that been there.... or they will have pizza for breakfast, a very interesting concept if I do say so myself. I was able to go the temple today and it is gorgeous!!! I love it, but something interesting that I learned was that all the land is owned by the government, so the church set up a deal with them that if they want to come and inspect the temple they need to give an hour or two notice and in that time everything sacred is taken down, all the temples in mexico are designed with that possibility in mind. I guess I will end this letter with a spiritual thought from Elder Bednar, All too often we ask for miricles and expect them to come regardless of action, but WE CANNOT pray for our mouths to be filled in order to open them, we must open our mouths and then they will be filled.
I love you all and you are in my prayers, fight the good fight stay the path and you shall enter in by the way.
Love YOU!!
ELDER Hutchins
