Falty equiptment

Well this week was a BLAST!!!! Seriously when they said that it rains here. it rains! Beginning Monday night it began to rain until Friday night, and finally the sun came back out. But it was an adventure.

If we reflect back on about two weeks before I left on my mission I recall that Mom and I went shopping for all of the items that it suggested that I bring on my mission. On that long list of suggested items was "Rain Pants". Well, as we had no idea what those were we went to Dicks Sporting goods and bought some "Rain pants".  I can now testify with complete conviction that those so titled "Rain pants" are one of a kind, they don't at all seem like they are rain resistant, and they, in no way, are rain resistant. If anything they seem to be resistant to staying dry. They actually absorb the very water they promise to resist. But after waiting until the first of May (pay day) and thoroughly soaked (and fairly cold as we had to wait to buy gas as well, no gas=cold shower) I was finally able to buy myself some rain gear, now I am ready.  Bring it on San Carlos!

As it rained practically the whole week the members were severely worried about our health, that we would catch a cold. So in our lunch on Thursday they shared with us a Chilean secret. Apparently if you eat an onion that has been soaked in vinegar and other various herbs and spices everyday, you won't get a cold, it's impossible. So Thursday we had the opportunity to put this to the test. And believe it or not, it works, as of yet I have not suffered from a cold, but what they forgot to mention was that eating this onion can have other various side effects. I will spare you the details but suffice it to say that much of my day was spent in the bathroom...

We have been trying to work more with the less active members of the ward and as of yet we have not had too much success, until Friday that is. In the rain and completely dry (with my new rain gear) we found and entered the house of a less active family who were looking for an excuse to reactive, let's just say that we gave them that excuse and they will be coming to church this Sunday. The funniest part of the whole experience has to be their last name. the Guzman family. I don't know why but when I heard that last name I chuckled and thought, 'well they sure are lucky that hannah and dad aren't here cause there would more than one or two jokes.

Just for general information, I am now living on the road 'Chewbacca' and in the same house we are two gringos, a Perubian, and an Italian, it is a culture blast in that house, also a blast of something else (yes we are going to clean it today and hopefully find a cure to my comps stinky feet)

Love you guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
