MY SON

I simply love my son. He is a bear of a man, he's six three weighting two fifty and he is just some great!!! I'm going to start calling him the contacting machine because that is what he is. What he lacks in Spanish and missionary knowledge he makes up for in his humor and his people skills.  We are KILLING IT!!!

His first week was a good one, Chile welcomed him with the biggest rain storm we've had so far. To help you understand the situation, Sunday morning the road in front of the chapel was literally a river. Cars couldn't drive on the road because the water was too high, I loved it!!! (My son came under prepared and we had to do some emergency shopping for rain pants and some rain boots.)

Also to welcome my son we put not just his physical ability to the test this week (with all the work in the rain) but we also put his spiritual ability to the test and he past with flying colors. I think this week we averaged about four or five blessings per day. So it was with our spirits souring and the people healing we worked and worked and worked. From old grandpas restricted to their beds to newly born babies with their hearts a few sizes too big.

One of the most interesting things that happened this week took place last night, the rain had stopped, but there was still a dampness in the air. We had recently left a new converts house (teaching English) and were going to another recent converts house to give him and his recent convert grandmother blessings. As we walked down the street with Jaun, a young man preparing for his mission, we decided to cross the street. As we arrived to the other side a man was just walking by as he crossed my side, without a second thought I called out "Hello how are you?" and stuck my hand in front of him. He stopped for a second and I could smell the tint of alcohol on him breath. He looked me in the eyes, looked at my companion and Juan and asked us who were and why we had stopped him when he had to go and 'take care of some business'. To make a long story short this man was angry, really angry and was going to kill a man who had insulted his grandfather. He had seven knives in his pocket to complete the task, but the spirit is strong and it was there supporting us every second. After a half and hour the man told us that we must be angels sent to him to stop him, to clam him down. He wants to change his life, wants to see his dad again (he died a few years ago) and we are going to help him do it this week, we have an appointment with him!

The work is great, even if it is a little bit wet. We are involving the members more and the less actives (the less actives made up about half the the assistance this week!!!) and are working with references we have thirteen and eleven we have recently contacted. The work is moving forward as a stone cut out of the mountain.
much love
