Talking to EVERYONE

I don't know how many of you have heard, recently Elder Ballard came and spoke to all the mission presidents in Chile and surrounding areas. Well with all of the things that he said the most impactful and maybe the most direct was that EVERY missionary talks to 10 people EVERYDAY! And those ten people are people who are not currently meeting with the missionaries, or members. or less actives. In other words ten contacts everyday every missionary. It is super fun!

Just to sum it up miracles come from obey, but not right away.

Monday: Did at least my ten contacts, 0 new investigators

Tuesday: Did at least my ten contacts, 0 new investigators

Wednesday: Did at least my ten contacts, 0 new investigators

Thursday: Did at least my ten contacts, 0 new investigators

Friday: Did at least my ten contacts, Family of 5!

Saturday: Did at least my ten contacts, Family of Five!

I just wanted to show how the blessings for our obedience don't always get shown right away, but if we endure, we will be blessed and we will be able to recognize the blessings as long as we are looking for them.

Funny story: So the first family of five that we found are parents and their three daughters. We watched the restoration with them and taught lesson one (with a member of course) they were hooked on it and committed to read the Book of Mormon and to pray about it and to pray about Joseph Smith. But as we were leaving the littlest daughter (nine years old) tried to give me a kiss on the cheek, as is customary in Chile, so I explained that as missionaries its is a rule that we don't do that. The dad looked at me and said "Hey its okay its just their way to show affection, you can just kiss them".....ummmm no...then the member explained how we couldn't because people can see it as bad and we represent the church so the dad told me, "hey as long as you are in my house no one will see you so you go right ahead and kiss my daughters when you are in my house, no one will know." WHAT!!! I felt a little bit like Ammon with this guy, I felt like he wanted me to marry one of his daughters, "Hey I really just want to serve you, just let me be your servant nothing else!"

Also this week we learned that Isabel and her children want to be baptized and want to be members of the church, but the dad wants nothing to do with it. At first he told them that they could do what they wanted, but that he would have no part in it, latter after all the dinner discussions turned to the topic of the church, he got angry and has forbidden them from letting the missionaries in their house and from going to church. But they are reading the scriptures everyday and are praying that the dad, Pablo, will have a change of heart.

This Saturday Oscar is going to get baptized, he is 22 and a professional chef, he is really awesome and super prepared. He wants to get baptized, follows all the commandments, and has a super strong testimony.

I love being a missionary.

LOVE YOU GUYS
Elder Hutchins
